Director

Director and scriptwriter, Rodrigo Astiz has specialized in producing documentaries screened on national and international TV. Over the last twenty years, he has created, developed, produced and directed documentaries, documentary series and docu-realities for some of the main streaming platforms and cable channels around the world. Among them, he has directed award-winning documentaries such as, “Shark Rebellion” (Discovery’s Shark Week, 2006), which won the Grand Prix at the Wildlife Documentary Amazonas Film Festival – 3rd World Adventure Film), “Spinner Dolphins” (NatGeo, 2003), which was awarded the Palme de Bronze at the Festival Mondial de l’Image Sous-Marine, in France, and “The Assassination of Jean Charles de Menezes” (Discovery, 2010), nominated for the Current Affairs & News International Emmy Awards in 2011.

Since 2011, Astiz has been producing docu-reality series and survival series for cable channels. The Brazilian version of the American survival series “Dual Survival”, (“Desafio em Dose Dupla Brasil” – Discovery, 2 Seasons), and the docu-reality “City Eagles” (Discovery, 03 Seasons) following the helicopter rescue and police operations inside the city of São Paulo, Brazil, are among his main productions. Recently, Astiz has started to create and develop limited documentary series in the True Crime genre and others for Netflix, Discovery+ and HBO Max.
